Dr. Wu Rong Zhang obtained a Ph.D. degree from BUPT (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication) in 1997 in Electrical Engineering. More than 20 years working experiences has given him broad knowledge of communication system and evolution, as well as a variety of leadership experiences. He is currently the Huawei Prime of MulteFire RWG, in charge of the technical and specification aspects. Dr. Zhang is committed to the growth and success of MulteFire.
Before MulteFire, Dr. Zhang has participated in 3GPP Rel-9/10/11/12, in the role as the chief technical leader in Huawei 3GPP RF group, growing the team and leading many SI/WI projects in 3GPP. He was also the chief system designer of Huawei eLTE-IoT solution and the NB-IoT-U system.
Before joining Huawei in Jan. 2009, Dr. Zhang has been the Agilent Global Service and Software Engineering Manager for five years, taking charging of the metrology and calibration software development of Agilent/HP measurement instruments. Before that, Dr. Zhang was the leader of EDA software development team that has developed the commercial software packages for the simulation of GSM/EGDE, WCDMA R99, CDMA2000, as well as the earlier WLAN 11a/b technologies.
Dr. Zhang has co-authored one book, authored more than 20 technical papers, as well as more than 60 patents.
