Dr. Yi Shi (Richard) is a Senior Engineer, Huawei Technologies, Beijing, China. Yi has more than 12 years of experience in wireless communications and networking and has been participating actively in various standardization bodies (3GPP, MulteFire, ETSI, SAE, etc.) promoting cellular communication technologies in vertical markets. He currently serves as the Chairman of Industry Working Group at MulteFire Alliance.

Yi has in-depth knowledge on cellular technologies (such as LTE) and is currently engaged in expanding cellular technologies to vertical business enterprises over licensed-exempt spectrums. Yi interfaces a number of vertical business sectors including utilities, industry automation, rail transportation, etc., and is responsible for identifying pain points and use cases through dialogue with business partners, and deriving technical requirements and key performance indicators from a communication perspective. Besides, Yi is also involved in industry promotion activities with special focus on enterprise dedicated/private networks.

Yi received the Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, in August 2010. Prior to joining Huawei Technologies, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, B.C., Canada, where his research covers wireless technologies with applications to smart grid, distributed energy resources, industry automation, etc.
